STREETS SMARTS OF MARYLAND DRIVING SCHOOL in coordination with the Maryland MVA is offering an approved online version of the Drivers Education Curriculum. Students/parents can now go to: https://tds.ms/OE/Customer/studentTeen?companyId+HevyPOwk/xA&CR&Loc=onhs and register by clicking on the school the student attends. This will be a 30 hour online class that each student can take from their home. Each session will be run identically to the classroom version of the course and each student must remain online for the entire session. Due to the closure of area schools, students may elect to take this online version of the class in lieu of the regular classroom session. Classes are limited to 20 students per session and several sessions will be offered throughout the day. Please keep in mind the online classes will only be available while the Governor's State of Emergency is in effect. Otherwise we look forward to seeing the students in our classroom sessions once local schools have reopened. Please contact the office with questions or if you need assistance. firstname.lastname@example.org

Frequently Asked Questions about Drivers Education:
Am I required to take Driver’s Ed?
Yes – in Maryland, the law requires everyone to complete an MVA-certified Driver’s Education course in order to obtain a new driver’s license. This rule applies to all Maryland residents, regardless of age.
Do I need a learner’s permit to take the Driver’s Ed class?
No, you do not need a learner’s permit to take the class – in fact; you can begin the class as early as age 15. Many students find that taking the class first helps them to pass the MVA learner’s permit test later when they apply for a permit (You can apply for a learner’s permit at the age of 15 and 9 months).
The course consists of two parts: a classroom portion, and an in-car driving portion. Students may take the classroom portion without a learner’s permit, and then return for the on-the-road training after they have obtained their driving permit.
