Congratulations to the Class of 2017 recipients
The word Viking is customarily used to refer to the Norse (Scandinavian) explorers and warriors. The Old Norse noun Viking also referred to expeditions and in later medieval writings there was a phrasal verb expression “farai Viking," “to go on an expedition.” In later texts, the phrase “to go Viking” implied participation in an activity or act as a warrior for a cause.
It is the goal of the Viking Backers Booster Club to make a difference at Mt. Hebron High School and in the Mt. Hebron Community including the student body, faculty, and the community by bringing everyone together on “expeditions” and “activities” to raise awareness and aid in procuring resources for activity-based clubs and sports teams and for the student body and faculty-at-large.
The Viking Backers Booster Club created the Norseman Scholarship, which will be awarded to up to three Mount Hebron High School seniors who have personified the booster’s goal of making a difference at the high school and within the Mt.Hebron Community while having maintained a 2.5-grade point average (GPA) or better.
A senior can be nominated by the Mt. Hebron High School Administration, a teacher, friend, coach, community member or self-nomination. Nominations for this award MUST be received by March 2, 2018. Nomination forms are available in the Guidance Counselor’s Office and through the links below.
Student nominations must be received by March 2, 2018 to the Mt. Hebron High School Guidance Counselor’s Office. Nominated students will then be asked to complete their application by March 29, 2018 and a winner will be announced during the Mt. Hebron High School’s Senior Awards Ceremony.
